A warm welcome back to all our returning children and a special welcome to our new children who joined us in January. We are all looking forward to a busy new term filled with lots of fun learning experiences.
The Pink Panther Staff would like to say a huge thank you for the lovely gifts and warm wishes they received before Christmas. We would also like to say thank you to the committee and to all parents and family members who contributed to the hamper and to selling/purchasing tickets. We are delighted to say that a fantastic total of £209 was raised from the Christmas raffle. The children had a fantastic time at the Christmas party and it was great having family members join us for Santa’s visit, a sing-a-long and of course to eat cakes and mince pies! Thank you to everyone who came and contributed and made it such a lovely morning.
We are also pleased to inform you that we raised £31.67 from commission on our Tempest photograph order.
Over the next couple of weeks we intend to focus in our play and learning on the Highland Council’s and NHS Highland’s Smart Start programme. This is a health and wellbeing programme introduced last year focusing mainly on healthy eating and physical activity. Healthy eating, physical activity and the self awareness to begin making the best choices for ourselves are core components of every child’s development. More information on our learning and activities each week will be available on the blog. In connection with this we hope to arrange a visit to Tesco as part of their ‘Farm to Fork’ Scheme where the children will have the opportunity, among other things, to see how food is made in their bakery and to sample a variety of different fruits. We are also considering the possibility of inviting a local sports coach to Pink Panther to run an activity session. However, this will be dependent on us having access to the school hall.
We have received information from High Life Highland Libraries inviting us to visit to visit the library for a short Bookbug session and for the children to receive their Bookbug bags. More information on all of these trips will follow when we have dates confirmed.
Our Star Moments board in the entrance foyer is looking a little empty! Please do take a few of the star moment notes attached to the board and anytime your little one has a ‘star moment’ at home fill it in and return to any member of staff. This may be something as simple as trying a new vegetable, unprompted sharing with a sibling or friend or sleeping a full night in their own bed. We would love the children to share these moments with their friends and the staff at playgroup!
To add to our online presence we hope to make more use of our Pink Panther Facebook page. Please like and share it with other friends and families as we will be updating it with photos, information and learning activities. We are aware that not all parents are Facebook users so the blog will continue to be full of learning information and photos as usual.
